A story is an inspiration for the imagination. In this exhibit, stories will be brought to life by the artists who were challenged by words, and met that challenge with a variety of colorful images in many styles and mediums.

New England has a rich tradition of children’s book illustration. This exhibit showcases members of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators, who have created rich and expressive art in response to stories. The illustrations are as varied as the styles and stories behind them. Everything from watercolor to collage will provide a glimpse into both process and finished art of illustrators from all over New England. Jurors are Susannah Richards, who has served on the Newbery Award committee and illustrator Brian Lies.

The reception is Sunday, May 20, 2-4pm. Many of the artists will have books for sale. Come and celebrate New England children’s book illustrators.
